Student Council Electoral Process
Earlier this year and on September, the 2nd , Al Manar International School started promoting the interest of students in joining the “Student Council Committee” by displaying in classes a power point presentation and explaining the role of the elected member, in each available position. Homeroom teachers presented also a list of qualifications for each position.
Al Dafna Campus was very excited about the 2019-2020 elections of the members in the “Student Council Committee”.
“Student Council” is the voice of students, as it is a representative structure through which students become more involved in the affairs of the school. It helps them work in partnership with the school management, staff and parents and make theirs voice count, in addition of making the school a happier and a more harmonious place for them.
The Student Council campaign was launched on Sunday, September the 8th, 2019.
There is a whole process of preparation that needs to be done before running any successful elections; Students needed to obtain a parent/guardian permission to run for the elections and had to prepare a campaign through making a poster and a video.
This process yielded a total of 19 candidates in third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades who ran for 11 positions on the 2019-2020 Al Manar International School’s “Student Council” elections. Brilliant poster ideas, slogans, and videos have all been a part of the nomination process. There were plenty of posters with catchy slogans, these brilliant posters and slogans caught the attention of peers.
Candidates had a wonderful campaign; they prepared a video limited to two minutes explaining to other students why they should be elected, these videos were watched during the homeroom period; each candidate explained why he/she would be the best choice and how he/she planned to bring a positive change for the good of the school.
In order to support their own campaign and enhance their chances in winning, the candidates handed out flyers to the students as well.
The Elections were held on Monday, September the 22nd, voting was the final round in which students got to experience the process of voting freely and also understood the responsibility attributed to them as voters. The process of voting took place during the breaks. Once the votes were tallied, the results were officially announced.
After a competitive but cordial electoral process, the voters have obviously chosen:
Asmaa Almarzooqi as the Student Council President.

Youssef bahr as Treasurer.
Fatima Al harami as Secretary.
Khloud Al-Mansoori as Vice-secretary.
