On Wednesday, the 24th of October 2018, Al Manar International School Dafna Campus held the annual Junior Ambassadors Conference for the seventh year . They also celebrated the United Nation’s Day inside the school, for the first time. Our motto for this year was “Stop Poverty”.

Students came to school wearing white and light blue colors. They also did different posters discussing the sustainable development goals of the UN assigned to their grade level and also attended a workshop by Mrs.Eman Al Kaabi a volunteer from Qatar Charity about the importance of humanitarian acts.

At 12 noon, the conference started with a speech by Mrs. Marcel Fernandez UNESCO’s officer. Later, selected students from grade three to grade six took part in the conference as delegates of different countries. The purpose of JAC was to create awareness on several social affairs that affect children around the world. During the conference, students discussed the issue of “Poverty”. Delegates researched the impacts of this issue and came up with possible solutions.

At the end, his Excellency the Ambassador of Austria announced the names of winners: Sara Mutalik from Grade 3A won the best opening speech, Lojain Assad from Grade 3B won the best delegate, and Youssef Hassabou from Grade 5A won best problem solver.
