All of the great leaders are great readers.
Knowledge is as deep as the ocean, it deserves to be explored. That’s why the more you read, the more you learn, the more you learn, the more you grow….
This is how Al Manar International School celebrated the Reading and Writing week, from Sunday, November the 24th to the 28th .
The main objective of this week, was to highlight the importance of reading on a daily basis for all the students of all ages.
Reading abolishes ignorance and adds a lot to our knowledge. Books enrich our experience and stimulate our minds to think, that’s why a book is considered as a best friend.
A number of experienced individuals volunteered to realize smoothly and perfectly the planned program for this special week.
Sunday November the 24th, 2019:
Many parents had the courtesy to come read stories to kindergarten students during the English and the Arabic classes.
Students from different classes enjoyed the reading corners inside the campus and also enjoyed a nice reading in the playground or in the nearby park.
Monday, November the 25th ,2019:
Students got to enjoy educational games and books on the book fair that was held inside the school for three days.
Upper grades students did sessions of creative writing during the English classes and students of grade three enjoyed an activity called “The Reading Challenge”.
In this activity, they were asked to perform a couple of weird tasks related to reading such as reading to a cuddling toy, reading while standing on one foot, making a fort and reading under it….etc.
As weird as this activity could be, students loved it !
As far as students of grade 1 and 2 are concerned, they went on an educational trip to al Thuraya planetarium, where they learned new information about exploring the outer space.
Tuesday ,November the 26th , 2019
Upper grades students read for students of grade one and two, it is great to teach our children the importance of making the little ones in love with reading.
Students of grade six went on a cinema trip , the reason why we chose the reading writing week to do such a trip, is because reading and film making are very related kinds of arts.
Wednesday , November the 27th ,2019
Students did two plays in Arabic and enjoyed watching them during the break then; they had the chance to check what the book fair’s got to offer.
Thursday, November the 28th, 2017
By the end of the Reading and Writing week, we usually celebrate the “Characters’ Day”.
On this day, students wear their favorite costumes and come to express their personalities and imagination. Being able to dream is what made many writers write the greatest books of all times, so allowing our students to see themselves as fairy tale characters and characters with super powers allows them to dream and who knows , maybe someday , write master pieces.
