Garangao is an annual uniquely Qatari tradition for children celebrated after the breaking of the fast on the 14th night of Ramadan. This is when the children dress up in festival robes, carry a bag around their neck, and visit their neighborhood knocking on the doors of neighbors and friends, singing special songs, and receiving sweets from them.
AMIS celebrated this occasion with our students on Wednesday April 05th 2023.
Qatar History department had many different activities during that event, like singing Garangao songs during the classes.
Students also dressed in their Garangao costume/ clothing and brought bags of sweets and nuts to share with their classmates and eat after Iftar.
