Observed end of April each year, Health and Safety week shines a spotlight on the great efforts our kindergarten is making to improve health and wellness of our students and link between nutrition, physical activity, and learning. Healthy kids are happy kids. Healthy kids learn better.
Each day of this week our kindergarteners were involved into different activities that extended their knowledge about healthy habits and safety in class, in street and at home.
Sunday morning started with whole school marching around our campus building. Children did morning exercises and discussed the importance of physical activities and sport for our health.
Monday morning children had an assembly and shared healthy breakfast with their classmates.
During the week, our school nurse visited classrooms and had a talk with children about healthy habits and how to follow personal hygiene: brushing teeth, taking shower, washing hands. Students brought hygienic items (soap, towel, toothbrush and toothpaste) from their homes and were trained how to care of their bodies.
Students enjoyed the visit of Civil Defense Department officers and were amazed to see a real fire truck. Another exciting experience was visit of Hamad Medical Corporation ambulance. The fireman and the paramedic spoke to children about their jobs and demonstrated the tools they use to rescue people
Thursday, the last day of Health and Safety week, was dedicated to home, classroom and road safety. Students had classroom discussions and played outdoor games on imitated road layouts.
During the week children were exposed to many new experiences and participated in the activities with great joy and enthusiasm.
