Math Day

Math Day

Math is incredibly important in our lives and, without realizing it, we use mathematical concepts, as well as the skills we learn from doing math problems, every day. The laws of mathematics govern everything around us, and without a good understanding of them, one can encounter significant problems in life.

In order to develop students’ knowledge and enjoyment of learning mathematics, the Math department in AMIS/ Izghawa organized the “Math Day” on Sunday, March 31st, 2019. Our aim is to increase students’ critical thinking skills, raise Math standards, test new ideas, problem-solve in a fun format and understanding the relation between Math and other subjects.

Many stations were set up in the school playground involving different Math activities. Our 6th Graders were the leaders of the day, they helped teachers to explain the objectives of activities and how to practice them.

Students of different grade levels interacted well with the differentiated activities which were ranging by levels of difficulty, and kept students in continuous competition, enthusiasm and passion for participation.

Representors from UC Mas center visited our school during this day and had an active role in enriching students’ skills using mental computation and also using Chinese abacus. Parents’ attendance was a great support for their children and their participation added excitement to their celebration of this important day.

The day was full of joy, learning and interaction between students, parents and teachers, where the spirit of team works added up to the day more success.
